Thomas F. Lentz

October 2 1924- February 7, 2011

Thomas F. Lentz, 86, a long-time Janesville resident died Monday, February 7, 2011 at Arbor Woods Lodge Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids, WI where he had made his home since April of 2010. Thomas was born in Janesville on October 2, 1924, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Higgins) Lentz. He attended Janesville Schools. Thomas was proud of his service with the U. S. Army Signal Corps during World War II, having served in the European theater. He married Grace Marie Reeder on June 20, 1046. Thomas was employed by General Motors for 30 years and following his retirement from there repaired furniture and antiques for many years. He was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church, a member of Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621, U.A. W. Local # 95 and was formerly active with the Yankee Air Force.

Surviving are 4 children, Vivian (Ken) Wayman of Port Orange, FL, Charles “Chuck” (Vickie) Lentz of Nekoosa, WI, Nancy (Robert) Smith of Fort Atkinson, WI, Richard (Sherry) Lentz of Arena, WI, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Doris Pardee of Janesville, a special aunt, Jean Johnson of Clinton, WI. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Marie Lentz on September 8, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

Funeral services will be at Noon Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church, 302 N. Parker Drive, Janesville. Pastor Bond Haldeman will officiate. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church Thursday from 11 a.m. until Noon. Military rites will be provided by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Private burial will follow the services in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
